Adding a Poll

To create a new poll, scroll down the page to the box labeled “Poll > Add”. There are three parts to adding a new poll: “Question”, “Answers” and “Vote Options”.

The first step is creating the question, which can be entered using the Rich Text Editor.

Next, click the “Answers” tab to expand the answers. The maximum number of answers that you can enter is six. Answers left blank will not appear on the front of the website.

Lastly, click the “Vote Options” tab to expand the options. Here you can set a time range for your poll to be activated and expire. Note that your active and expire dates must be set in the future. There is also a checkbox that you can check to enable multiple answers. Note that the dates are required fields.

When you have completed your poll click the “Add Poll” button. There is no limit to the number of polls that you can have per page.

After your polls have been added you will be able to view the current polls under the box labeled “Polls”.

The polls are displayed by the poll question. To view the current answers or change the answers you will need to click the “edit” link. Notice the “Active” column. This is where you can see which polls are currently active. You may have multiple polls active at one time. To “reset” the poll, check the “Reset” checkbox beside the poll question, to make the changes you will need to click the “Update” button. Resetting the poll does not delete the poll; it just removes the number of votes. To delete a poll, check the “Delete” checkbox beside the poll you would like to delete and click the “Update” button.

To view your poll, log out of the administration and navigate to the page that you added the “Votes & Polls” module to. It should look similar to the example below:

To make a vote, select the answer and then click the “Vote” button. To view the results, click the “View Results” link.
