Donations

To start configuring your donation page scroll to the box labeled “Paypal Donation > Configuration”.

There are nine fields to configure. The first field is “Receiver Email”, which is a required field and is the email address that is associated with your PayPal account. If the email address is not correct your customers will not be able to send you payment. The second field is “Item Name”, which is also a required field, will not be configured anywhere in your PayPal account, but is more of a way for you to keep track of your payments and it would generally be the name of your donation or service. For example: “Website Donations”. The next field, “Item Number”, is not required, and is used for your own reference purposes. After that is the “Default Donation Amount”. This is a drop down to choose from that represents a number from 1-8 that is associated with the donation amounts at the bottom of the configuration. This will be the amount that is selected by default on the front of the website.

Next, there are three are options of yes or no. The “Allow Specific Amount”, if selected “Yes” will display a text box for contributors to enter in their own donation amount. The “Ask for address”, allows the user, when redirected to the PayPal site, to enter in a mailing address. The “Allow users to add note” option offers the users, when redirected to the PayPal site, to add a comment or message along with the donation. The “Currency” drop down option allows you to select which currency you are accepting donations in. The last field is “Donation Amounts”, there are a maximum of eight boxes you can fill out an amount for your contributors to choose from. If you enter an amount of zero, it will not display on the front of the website. When you log out of administration and view your donation page, it will look similar to the example below.

To make a donation, select or type in the amount and click the “Make Donation” button. A new Web browser will open and take the user to the PayPal website.

The information that was filled out on the website will be sent to PayPal for payment processing. If you need more information, please visit www.paypal.com or contact our office.
