Add/Edit Permissions

To edit the permissions of a group, follow these instructions:

  1. Click the “Admin” link in the top navigation.

  2. Click the “Permissions” link in the side navigation.

  3. From the “Group Name” dropdown select the group you would like to edit the permissions for, and click the “Select” button. After you have selected the group, the drop down box will disappear. To select a different group you will need to click the “De-Select” button.

By default, a new group that does not inherit permission from another group will be denied all pages. If you would like the group to be able to “view” a certain page, but not “edit” the certain page you would use the “Page View Allowed” box. To give access to a page, simply click the page name you would like to move under the “Page View Denied” box and click the “<<” button to move it to the “Page View Allowed” box. To select multiple pages, hold down “Ctrl” or “Shift” key.

If you would like users in a group to be able to “edit” pages, you would use the “Page Administration Allowed” box. To give access to a page, simply click the page name you would like to move under the “Page Administration Denied” box and click the “<<” button to move it to the “Page Administration Allowed” box. To select multiple pages, hold down “Ctrl” or “Shift” key.

Every time you move a page from “denied” to “allowed”, it will save. To deny access to a page, select the page name and click the “>>” button to move it to the denied box.

Once you have moved a few pages from denied to allowed, it should look something similar to the example below:

In this example, when a user from this group logs in, they will be able to view four pages and edit only one. This is useful if you want to have certain people editing certain pages or areas within your website. Keep in mind that permissions are based per page and not per area.

If you would like to hide a page from visitors viewing your site you would need to do this in the “Anonymous” group permissions. This will make it so you can have pages that only logged in users can see. This is great for sharing information, pictures, or even files. As a safety measure, the “Anonymous” group can not be given any “Page Administration Allowed” pages, and the “Administrator” group permissions can not be altered.
